What is the Marriage Blessing?

Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, founders of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, began the tradition of the Marriage Blessing in 1960. Based on their lifelong commitment to a world of strong marriages and empowered families, the Marriage Blessing has become a worldwide tradition where couples dedicate their marriage to a greater purpose and God. In response to the breakdown of traditional marriage in our world, the Marriage Blessing offers a path to build a world of stronger marriages and healthier families. The Marriage Blessing takes traditional marriage to a higher level of purpose.

The Holy Marriage Blessing Ceremony is a celebration of the commitment of one man and one woman to love each other eternally and to create a strong marriage and empowered family.

Who can participate in the Marriage Blessing Ceremony?

Married couples can participate. All participants should register online beforehand.

What is the process to receive the Marriage Blessing?

The process involves three steps:

Based on their lifelong commitment to a world of strong marriages and empowered families, the Marriage Blessing has become a worldwide tradition where couples dedicate their marriage before God. Since 1960, every year thousands of couples receive the Marriage Blessing across the U.S. and world.

How much does it cost to attend the Marriage Blessing Ceremony?

The Blessing Offering is a monetary offering of sincere gratitude for receiving the Marriage Blessing. Also, it serves as a payment to participate in the event.

The standard payment due upon registering for the event is $210 for married individuals who were invited to attend the Marriage Blessing Ceremony.

Who can attend the Marriage Blessing Ceremony?

Regardless of belief, religion or background, all married couples are welcome to learn more about the Marriage Blessing and participate in the ceremony. That's what makes this so great!

Is the Marriage Blessing Ceremony a legal marriage ceremony?

In most cases, the Marriage Blessing Ceremony is not a legal wedding ceremony. Some couples are already married and those that are engaged are later legally married according to the laws of their own countries. The New York Times referred to a 1997 ceremony for 28,000 couples as a "marriage affirmation ceremony," adding: "The real weddings were held later in separate legal ceremonies."

Absolutely! We welcome all married couples to renew their marriage and take their relationship to a new level.

Yes, we have developed a system of trained advisors who can support you to (1) learn about the Marriage Blessing, (2) find a potential spouse, (3) begin healthy communication, and (4) commit to receive the Marriage Blessing.

What is the attire for the Marriage Blessing Ceremony?

Participating couples and families should prepare white or light-colored dresses and shoes for women, and black or dark blue suits with white shirts and red ties for the men. Wedding dresses are optional. Holy robes are not recommended.
